DSc, PhD, Eng. · Professor & Head of the Department of Bioinformatics & AI Applications, PJAIT
Biotechnologist, molecular biologist and bioinformatician working at the interface of DNA technology, data and artificial intelligence — turning molecular science into patents, products and reproducible tools.
Two decades spanning the laboratory bench, the startup floor and the lecture hall — connecting DNA biology with computation.
I am a biotechnologist and molecular biologist by training, with a research profile combining molecular biology, DNA technologies, bioinformatics, data analysis and artificial intelligence in the life sciences. I earned my MSc Eng in biotechnology (2006), PhD (2011) and habilitation (DSc, 2019) at the University of Life Sciences in Lublin.
Today I am University Professor and Head of the Department of Bioinformatics & AI Applications at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology (PJAIT) in Warsaw, where I also lead the postgraduate programme in Bioinformatics and build research at the biology–computer-science interface.
In parallel, I have spent years in life-science R&D and biotechnology. I co-founded and led Vitagenum and Nexbio, served as Head of Science at Sundose developing supplement-personalisation algorithms, and now chair the Scientific Advisory Board at One Answer. I have also worked as an independent red-teaming contractor for OpenAI and Anthropic, assessing the risk and safety of advanced AI models.
My recent work focuses on DNA as an information-bearing, engineerable material — DNA-based tagging and data storage, molecular diagnostics, and species-specific primer design — reflected in publications in Nature Communications, SoftwareX and WIREs Computational Molecular Science.
